Columbus event awards Iranian ‘Elders’

The 69th Columbus Int’l Film & Animation Festival in the US awards Iranian ‘Elders’.

The 69th edition of the Columbus International Film & Animation Festival in the US has awarded Iranian short flick ‘Elders’.

Co-directed by Parisa Sedaee-Azar and Ramin Farzaneh, the 18-minute title received the award for best short film at the US event.

‘Elders’ is about a 70-year-old man, named Kazem, who plans to run away from a nursing facility.

The actors in the short include Kazem Hashemzadeh, Malakeh Fathi, and Mahsa Sedaee-Azar.

The short flick has previously won the Diploma of the Audiences Sympathy at the 10th Baku International Short Film Festival in Azerbaijan and the Special Jury Prize at the 3rd International Siirt Short Film Festival in Turkey.

It has also gone on screen at the 2020 Exground Film Festival in Germany, the 11th Macau International Short Film Festival in China, the 27th Sguardi Altrove Film Festival in Italy, and the 2nd Erzincan International Short Film Festival in Turkey.

The Columbus International Film & Animation Festival is the oldest film festival of its kind in the US.

The festival’s awards remain a revered prize for industry professionals, but the organization is equally passionate about supporting independent film.

The juried competition focuses on rewarding the world’s best films, regardless of origin, while the festival serves to promote and screen more and more films every year.

The 69th edition of the Columbus International Film & Animation Festival was held online due to the coronavirus pandemic in the US state of Ohio in April 2021.
